Sacred Waters 2
I’m super excited to reveal this recent work on the heels of finishing my updated website, as well as preparing for its display in the online gallery with New Media ArtSpace! You can see it together with the work of amazing artists starting July 17th, here: https://newmediartspace.info/
This digital video is the centerpiece of a grand multi-media installation project currently in development. The piece is a reiteration of the mixed media painting “Sacred Waters,” in which the Atlantic Ocean is depicted from two perspectives: The Cape Coast in Ghana, and the Mid-Atlantic region of the United states. This is meant to evoke the Middle Passage, the period of history in which the transatlantic slave trade occurred. In this version, I am able to better articulate the poetry of the first piece, with increased precision, and sound.
The installation in development will include this video, other paintings included in the “Sacred Waters 2” series, and additional forthcoming sculptures.
