Summoned

This piece is the first I developed after giving birth to my first child. Thematically, it refers to signs from protests during 2020, in response to the murder of George Floyd. One of the posters I include here says, "When George Floyd cried out to his mom he summoned all mothers." This moved me and spoke to the feelings of fierce protection that have awakened in me as a new mother, especially of a Black child.
