Untitled (Power Totem on Men)

This was the first piece where I instinctively moved from collage on paper to painted canvases. Up to this point much of my collage material focused on images of women and empowerment, heavily influenced by my art therapy work. This piece gets more personal as I explore my own internal fears of "toxic" masculinity, where I am attempting to highlight a wider variety of forms of "manhood." It was also the first time I introduced flower petals, in effort to express a dramatic sense of mourning for those either pressured to conform to the "toxic troupes" as well as those victimized by them.
